SATSUMA, Fla. – A 24-year-old Putnam County woman is accused of running her mother over with a Jeep when the mother tried to stop her from driving off with her children while she was drunk, deputies said.
Randie Johns is charged with aggravated battery, reckless driving, and two counts of child neglect as the result of an incident Friday evening in Satsuma.
According to the arrest report, Johns went to her mother’s house to hang out and got intoxicated.
When she said she was going home with her two children, the mother tried to stop her, but Johns put the children in her Jeep and tried to leave, deputies said.
The arrest report said the mother opened the driver's door to try to turn the Jeep off, and Johns put the vehicle in reverse and gunned it out of the driveway, knocking down a chain-linked fence across the street.
The mother was knocked to the ground and dragged by the Jeep, deputies said.
Johns denied hitting her mother, but a witness saw the incident and matched the mother's account of what happened, according to the report.
