The Green Cove Springs Water Department said the water in those areas was shut off to repair a water main located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and State Road 16 that was damaged by an outside independent telecommunications contractor.

Once water flow is restored, as a precaution, a bacteriological sample must be obtained and analyzed to make sure the water is safe.

It is recommended that customers boil for two minutes water being used for drinking, cooking or any type of consumption.
