Woman finds stolen jewelry at pawn shop, police say

1 man arrested; affidavit filed for charge on 2nd man

LAKE CITY, Fla. – A man was arrested after a woman said approximately $31,700 worth of jewelry was missing from her home in Lake City.

The Lake City Police Department said the victim notified them after she discovered June 29 that many of her jewelry items she realized were missing June 18 were at a pawn shop.

Police said an investigation revealed the suspects as Brandon Kyle and Clifford Carter, adding that between the two, five rings were sold at the pawn shop between June 8 and June 17.

Upon questioning, police said Carter stated he been given the jewelry by Kyle and asked to pawn them in exchange for splitting the money received. Carter told police he knew the jewelry was stolen, but did not know from where, LCPD said.

Kyle was detained a short time later and told police he purchased the jewelry from someone else and then resold it at the pawn shop, but admitted to previously being in the victim's home, police said.

Kyle is charged with grand theft and dealing in stolen property.

 

An affidavit for the charge of dealing in stolen property was filed on Carter.
