Police looking for suspect vehicle in 3 drive-by shootings

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Police in Gainesville believe that three shootings early Wednesday are all related and are looking for one suspect vehicle in all three.

The car police are searching for is a white 2000-2005 Buick LeSabre with tinted windows. Security video of the car at a gas station shows the car in the early morning hours on Wednesday.

Several witnesses have come forth, according to police, but investigators are asking for anyone with information to contact Gainesville Police Department Detective J. Castor at 352-393-7861. According to investigators, the first of the possible drive-by shootings occurred around 2 a.m. in the area of Northwest 4th Place and Northwest 8th Street. Nobody was hit in that shooting. 

The second was a little less than 90 minutes later, at 3:22 a.m., less than two miles away. This shooting happened on Northeast 11th Street and State Road 24.  Police say a woman in her late 20s who was sitting in her car with a an adult male, was shot in the neck but was expected to survive.

A neighbor said there was an altercation at the gas station a couple blocks away that led to the shooting.

About 20 minutes later, at 3:45 a.m., another shooting happened a mile and a half away on Southwest 6th Avenue.

Police say a group of people was standing outside a car parked in the area when another car drove by and shot. A man was hit in the torso and leg. He is in critical condition.

Police do not know the motive, although the targets were not randomly selected. 

Police believe there is no threat to the public at this time.
