ST. MARYS, Ga. – A boil water notice issued Wednesday for the entire city of St. Marys, Georgia, was lifted Thursday night.
City officials said the notice was issued as a precaution because of two routine water samples indicating the presence of coliform bacteria.

According to the city, free chlorine residuals were detected throughout the distribution system and all tests were performed by a certified laboratory and were negative for total coliform bacteria.
A copy of the laboratory results were sent to the Environmental Protection Division.
