Citizens can drop off outdated, unused drugs at secured containers

Camden County Sheriff's Office has 2 secured drop box containers

CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. – The Camden County Sheriff's Office said it has two secured drop box containers for outdated prescriptions medication.

The secured containers are at the main office in Woodbine and the substation on Highway 40, between St. Marys and Kingsland, the Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone who has outdated or unused drugs can bring them to the drop box locations. The Sheriff's Office said the medication will be destroyed by deputies specially trained to dispose of the drugs.

"The Drop Box Program for Outdated Drugs has been a true success during the past years," the Sheriff's Office said on its Facebook page.

The Sheriff's Office said it is a safe, hassle-free way for citizens to get the drugs out of a residence, and that the medication disposal also protects the environment.
