2 AR-15 rifles stolen from marked patrol SUVs in Lake City

Thiefs strike 2 Columbia County deputy vehicles in 1 week

LAKE CITY, Fla. – Two assault rifles and other police equipment were stolen from marked Columbia County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles in the last week, deputies said.

The back window of a sheriff's office SUV was smashed Friday at the Windsong Apartment Complex in Lake City and another marked SUV was burglarized Tuesday in the area of Country Club Road in Lake City.

The thief or thieves in Friday's burglary took an Anderson AR-15 .223 rifle, a black soft rifle case, a 30-round magazine, a green tactical vest and a black tactical vest.

The suspect in Tuesday's burglary stole an Anderson AR-15 .223 rifle, a camouflage woodland backpack, an Italian bayonet, .40 caliber ammunition and .223 caliber ammunition.
