Deputies: Workers found hiding behind truck after woman aims rifle at them

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – A Ponte Vedra Beach woman is facing an assault charge after deputies said she pointed a rifle Wednesday at construction workers pouring concrete next to her home.

According to a St. Johns County Sheriff's Office report, Judy Shivers, 67, came out of her Coconut Palm Parkway home about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday pointing a .22 caliber rifle at three men working near her home.

Deputies said Shivers screamed at the men to get out the area as she pointed the rifle at them, and when deputies arrived, the workers were hiding behind their truck.

One of the workers said he was only 20 feet from Shivers when she pointed the rifled at his face, the report said.

The deputies went to Shivers’ home, where her husband handed over the rifle, which was not loaded.

Deputies said it's unclear if the rifle was loaded during the incident.
