Police find body of kayaker in St. Johns River

Clay County man was last seen fishing at 3:20 a.m. Saturday

Joel Digiacomo, 22, was reported missing Saturday. He was last seen fishing in the St. Johns River.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have found the body of a 22-year-old Clay County man who was last seen by his friend fishing early Saturday morning in the St. Johns River, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Joel Digiacomo was kayaking with a friend on the St. Johns River just off Scott Mill Road. The friend told police they were fishing at 3:20 a.m. in separate kayaks when Digiacomo went missing. 

At 3:45 p.m. Saturday the JSO said its dive team had recovered the body in the river. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission was handling the investigation.
