Police: Man shot during robbery attempt in Paxon area of Jacksonville


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in his early 20s was shot Thursday night during a robbery attempt in the city's Paxon area, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

Officers responded about 7:45 p.m. to the shooting in the parking lot of a shopping center on North Edgewood Avenue, just north of West Beaver Street. 

Police found the man who had been shot twice in his leg, and he was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injures

Investigators said they're looking for two people who took off in a small red car after the shooting. 

Robbery detectives are working to obtain surveillance video, and they continue to investigate.
