Police in Burbank, California, are asking for help from the public in the hopes of identifying a woman seen on camera stealing a purse from an elderly woman at a grocery store.
The victim was shopping at Ralphs about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday when she stopped her electric scooter and reached up to grab an item from the store shelf, according to the police department.
That's when a woman nearby walked up behind and lifted the victim's purse from the scooter's floorboard and walked away, police said.
The woman was spotted leaving the grocery store in an older, 4-door white sedan with chrome rims that police suggest may be an older model Lexus GS.
Police said the victim's purse was found discarded nearby a short time later, but the victim's credit cards, ID and cash were missing. The credit cards were later used to pay for two large purchases at Target and Lowe's.
Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest is asked to call the Burbank Police Department at (818) 238-3210. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call (800) 222-TIPS instead.
