St. Augustine police captured man accused of robbing another man at gunpoint

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Officers have captured a man accused of beating another man and robbing him at gunpoint, the St. Augustine Police Department said. 

Police said it happened Wednesday morning at the Historic Inn on Anastasia Boulevard.

Frederick Mercer, 37, of Jacksonville was arrested the next day on a charge of robbery with a firearm.

A background check shows Mercer has an extensive criminal conviction record in Jacksonville for theft and illegal narcotics.

He's being held in the St. Johns County Jail on $250,000 bond.
