Deadly crash shuts down SR 21

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. – Two people were killed and two people were injured in a head-on crash Friday night in Keystone Heights, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The two-vehicle crash was reported just before 8 p.m. on State Road 21 at County Road 315C.

Troopers told News4Jax, a truck was trying to pass traffic in a no passing lane when it hit a car head-on.

Troopers said two people died at the scene, 42-year-old Tabatha Taylor and 52-year-old man who has not been identified. Two others, 52-year-old Eric Pierce and 73-year-old Frederic Heim III were taken to Orange Park Medical Center with critical injuries.

All lanes of S.R. 21 were shut down while troopers investigated.

Charges are pending.
