JSO: SWAT called after woman reported screaming for help
Neighborhood near Old Kings, Baymeadows roads on lockdown
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The SWAT team was called to a home on Moorgate Court Saturday morning after a woman was reported screaming for help, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Officers were called to the home in a neighborhood near Old Kings Road South and Baymeadows Road at about 5:06 a.m.
Police said that when officers went inside to help the woman, a man started fighting with police before locking himself in a room.
Officer said they were able to safely remove the woman and a small child from the home. The man remained in the home while SWAT members negotiated with him, police said.
Authorities sad they are not sure how the two people know each other.
Police said no officers were injured.
Authorities said homes in the area were evacuated and the neighborhood was on lockdown while SWAT members negotiated.
The Sheriff's Office has not released any information regarding the identities of the man, woman or child.
