JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman was arrested Tuesday after a teacher called the Florida Department of Children and Families abuse hotline and reported a student with injuries, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Sheniqua Smith, 28, is charged with child abuse.

According to the arrest report, the child had two cuts on his fingers, scratches on his arm and scars on his other arm.

There were also scars on his legs, most of which were curved marks, police said.

It's  unclear how the child was injured. But the arrest report said a belt was seized as evidence.

Smith was booked into the Duval County Jail and ordered held on $50,000 bond.
