Police investigate incident in Mandarin condo complex

Crown Point Elementary on lockdown due to police activity

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are investigating Tuesday morning in the Sugar Mill condominium complex, near the intersection of Old St. Augustine and Crown Point roads.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has not said what called them to the scene, but said the incident did not fit its criteria for a media briefing, so it is not known when or if information will be available about the nature of the incident.

Crown Point Elementary is about 200 yards away from one entrance to the complex. Just after noon, the school's principal sent a robocall to parents said the school was on a code-yellow lockdown due to police activity nearby and the block around the school was secured by law enforcement.  He said the student and staff are safe and asked parents not to come to the school.
