Ex-choir director arrested on sex charges pleads not guilty

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A former choir director who police said confessed to having sex with a child appeared Tuesday morning in Duval County Court.

Charles Brown is charged with capital sexual battery on a person under 18 but older than 12 and showing obscene materials to minors.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Brown is due back in court on Dec. 5.

Court records show Brown was previously arrested in March 2008 on a charge of unlawful intercourse with a minor, but that case was dropped within a month after the girl told police the sex was consensual.
