Early Tuesday morning, Columbia County Sheriff's deputies were called to a residence on SE Margaret Drive in reference to a disturbance, but the disturbance call turned into an assault investigation involving a pregnant woman and her mother.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by News4Jax, West, her 20-year old daughter and her daughter’s 10-month old son all share a room at the same residence.

The affidavit stated that West came home intoxicated and realized her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend--who is black--were watching a movie which sparked the argument.

According to investigators, during the argument, West told her daughter that her baby was a N-word baby. The argument escalated when West walked over to her daughter, pulled a cover off of her and allegedly began to physically assault her; so the victim’s boyfriend intervened.

According to the victim’s boyfriend, West repeatedly shouted the N-word after he and the victim put the victim’s son to sleep.

The victim refused medical assessment at the scene.

Due to the victim’s child being present, the DCFS was notified and are now conducting its own investigation.

West remains in jail on a $5,000 bond.
