Denmark drove off the road and continued eastbound as he tried to regain control of the truck, troopers said. Denmark then crashed into a culvert, which caused the truck to flip onto its roof, troopers said.

Denmark was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Denmark’s passenger, Dwight Hooper, of Fernandina Beach, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with minor injuries, troopers said.

Authorities said charges are pending in the investigation.
