Video from News4Jax sister station, WPLG-TV in Miami, showed the crocodile on the sand, with waves crashing over the animal. The beast later moved toward the ocean, seemingly enjoying the salt water.

Hollywood police officers stood nearby and taped off a portion of the beach.

Eventually, the crocodile walked back toward the ocean and seemed to soak up the salt water.

Hollywood spokeswoman Joann Hussey said the croc was first spotted near the pier in nearby Dania Beach and it drifted south in the Atlantic Ocean.

She said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will remove the crocodile.

Hollywood Beach is located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
