Counterfeit bills used at St. Johns County outlet mall, deputies say

Bills used at American Eagle, Carter's

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating after counterfeit bills were used at American Eagle and Carter's at the outlet mall.

The manager of the American Eagle store said a woman purchased a $12 perfume and used a $100 bill to pay for it. When they realized the bill was counterfeit, they pulled up surveillance video and contacted the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said a short time later they were called to investigate after a counterfeit $100 bill was used at the Carter's store.

The SJCSO said the description of the woman appears to be the same person, but she could not be found at the mall during the search.
