Jacksonville police: 2 hurt in crash with distracted officer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville police officer wasn't paying attention when he rear-ended a vehicle stopped Thursday in Mixon Town, authorities said.

The crash occurred about noon near where McDuff Avenue meets Edison Avenue, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Sgt. Baxley said the off-duty officer was not hurt. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were taken to St. Vincent's for treatment of minor injuries.

The officer will be ticketed for the collision, Baxley said.
