Victim shot trying to push shooter out of apartment, police say

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A person was shot Saturday morning at the Sundown Villas apartments on Windmeadows Boulevard, the Gainesville Police Department said.

An armed man made his way into a unit at 1:57 a.m., police said. The person living there tried to push him out of the door, and during the altercation, the resident was shot in the chest, police said. 

Investigators said they have reason to believe this was not a random attack. The alleged shooter was described as a man between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall with short hair, a designer hoodie, and Adidas shoes.
