PALATKA, Fla. – Drivers in Palatka will begin to notice some changes along State Road 19 as crews work to resurface 2.4 miles of roadway from Nicole Drive to Phillips Dairy Road. Construction on the project is underway.

The resurfacing project also includes the installation of countdown pedestrian timers, sidewalk improvements and handicap-accessible ramp upgrades at six intersections: South Moody Road, Crill Avenue, St. Johns Avenue and Reid Street, and at the Walmart and Palatka Mall entrances.

Construction will occur weekdays and weeknights. There will be no lane closures from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for isolated intermittent work during the day. Construction will not be allowed on holidays or special events, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The $3.5 million project is scheduled for completion in summer 2018, schedule and weather permitting. P&S Paving, Inc. is the contractor.
