JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Clay County teen was hospitalized in life-threatening condition Tuesday after her sport-utility vehicle rolled over in Green Cove Springs, authorities said.
The single-vehicle crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. as a Ford Explorer was heading north on County Road 315 near Rosemary Hill Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the SUV veered off the road for unknown reasons and then rolled over as the driver tried to overcorrect. The vehicle landed on its roof.
The driver, 18-year-old Jessica Noelle Land of Green Cove Springs, was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
Land, the only person listed in the crash report, was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash tied up traffic on surrounding roads for several hours. The Clay County Sheriff's Office urged drivers to avoid the area if at all possible.
