Police investigate body pulled from St. Johns River

Jacksonville detectives believe it's related to incident earlier this week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police are investigating after a person's body was pulled out of the St. Johns River around 7 a.m. Thursday.

A passerby spotted the body and called police.

The death investigation is taking place on Ramoth Drive, which is just south of Heckscher Drive east of the Blount Island Channel.

Sgt. Chuck Ford said no foul play is suspected and he wouldn't confirm if the body was that of a man or woman.

But he said investigators believe they know the identity, and that the case is likely part of a incident that happened earlier this week.

Detectives  are now working to determine an exact cause of death and confirm the identity of the victim.
