Missing Lake City man with dementia found safe

Eugene Young Senior found after 5 hours of searching

LAKE CITY, Fla. – Officers in Lake City have located a missing elderly man, who police believed was in danger.

Eugene Young Senior, 84, has dementia and disappeared Tuesday on Northwest Fronie Street in Lake City just before 2 a.m.

Emergency workers searched throughout the day, and about 12 hours after he was last seen, police posted on social media he'd been found safe.

The search lasted more than five mores with Florida Wildlife Commission Officers, Bloodhound
teams from the Florida Department of Corrections / Baker Correctional Institute, and LCPD’s K9 teams assisting in the search.

Lieutenant Dwight Boozer with LCFD first spotted Young behind a business several blocks away from his home; he had become entangled in a fence and was unable to move. After receiving initial care at the scene by LCFD,

Young was transported to Shands Lake Shore Medical Center for additional treatment.
