Search on for robber who shot restaurant supervisor Sunday

Employees say gunman didn't have to open fire to get loot

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man working at a restaurant on Atlantic Boulevard near I-295 was shot early Sunday morning during an armed robbery, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said a gunman was wearing a white mask and green jacket when he entered Hook Fish and Chicken on Atlantic and Brookview Drive North around 3:30 a.m.

They said he robbed the store, shot the employee then took off running.

The victim was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive his wounds.

Another employee of the restaurant was shaken up and said it didn't have to happen.

"He would do anything in the world for anybody who worked for him," Kristina May said. "He would've gave the money to them. They didn't have to shoot him."

The man shot was a supervisor who employees said is a good person to work for, and has a family that needs him.

"He has a son. He has family overseas. He was just fixing to go overseas to see them. We were trying to get everybody in the store trained so he could go, now I don't even know, " said May.

Detectives hope surveillance video in the area will lead investigators to the shooter.

Anyone who has information about this shooting and robbery is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
