Missing Jacksonville woman found safe in North Carolina

Kourtney Leino found; Matthew Dalton arrested on kidnapping charge

Jacksonville police Kourtney Leino may have been abducted by Matthew Dalton.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman reported missing and possibly abducted Monday from Jacksonville was found safe Tuesday morning in Rockingham, North Carolina.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Kourtney Leino, 23, might have been abducted by Matthew Dalton, 23, who also goes by Rice Chapman. They alerted law enforcement that the two were possibly traveling to the North Carolina or Virginia area.

Within hours of receiving the alert, Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page said that Leino was found on Brushy Mountain Road in Stoneville, North Carolina. She was found at a home, but Dalton fled into a wooded area nearby.

Page said Dalton was quickly taken into custody and booked into the Rockingham County jail on a kidnapping charge out of Jacksonville. 

Jacksonville police thanked everyone who helped get the word out about the missing woman so she could quickly be rescued.
