JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – A swimmer whose belongings were found near the Jacksonville Beach fishing pier prompted a search effort that ended when he was able to contact his family Tuesday morning.

Daniel Coyle, 28, was reported missing Monday night.

His sister told News4Jax that he was in town for a wedding when he was reported missing. She said he was finally able to contact his family Tuesday morning, saying he got lost at the beach and couldn't remember phone numbers to call anyone.

According to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, Coyle's belongings were left on the beach when he disappeared.

Coyle told his sister he found someone who helped him get a ride and was finally able to contact his frantic family from a home in Ponte Vedra.

Coyle's loved ones had driven down from South Carolina to help in the search and wait for news. They got the good news Tuesday morning that Coyle was OK.

Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, as well as air units had been called to help find him.
