ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A St. Augustine man was hospitalized after being hit by an SUV Tuesday night while walking south on U.S. 1 in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the man was hit by a Saturn Vue about 9:50 p.m. near Watson Road.

He was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with critical injuries, troopers said.
The 35-year-old Palm Coast woman driving the SUV was uninjured, according to the FHP report.
The Highway Patrol has ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation.
