PALATKA, Fla. – Two men were rushed to the hospital after deputies said they were shot at a home in Palatka, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators were sent to a home on Lane Street after a report of gunshots at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. According to the incident report, they found Jarvis Latrell Evans, 29, of Gainesville, lying on the floor inside the home and bleeding from his head.
Evans was rushed to the hospital.
Neighbors told police another man, Kevon JaJuan Monts, 24, was shot and had already been taken to the hospital, the Sheriff's Office said. He was shot in his stomach and shoulder.
According to the incident report, Evans' sister and Monts, who she lives with, left the residence after a "domestic issue" between herself and Monts. After learning of the incident, Evans drove from his home in Gainesville to the Lane Street home where witnesses told deputies he used a firearm to threaten to "pistol whip" Monts.
The incident report goes on to state Evans walked Monts to a bedroom where neighbors said they heard a scuffle and gunshots. Both were inured from gunshot wounds.
During the investigation, one firearm was found at the scene, and another firearm appeared to be missing, the Sheriff's Office said.
No charges were immediately filed.
