Driver struck by garbage truck in Regency dies

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office identifies victim as Gail Patricia Ford, 73

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman died from her injuries after the car she was driving was struck by a garbage truck in Regency on Wednesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced.

The crash happened at about 2:45 p.m. near Tredinick  Parkway and Commerce Center Drive. Police identified the driver of the car was Gail Patricia Ford, 73.

According to investigators, Ford was traveling west on Tredinick Parkway attempting to turn left onto Commerce Center Drive. She turned into the path of a garbage truck and was struck in the intersection.

Ford was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.

According to JSO, this is the 100th traffic death in Jacksonville reported to police in 2018.
