ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A St. Augustine man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after authorities said he stole a pickup in central Florida and led troopers on a chase in St. Johns County.

Joseph Porter Sembower, 25, was arrested at home and booked into the St. Johns County jail on several charges, including vehicle theft, fleeing and eluding, and aggravated battery, jail logs show.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers tried to stop Sembower after he was seen driving a stolen Toyota Tacoma about 10:15 p.m. Monday on A1A near State Road 312.

He led troopers on a brief chase before bailing out of the vehicle and taking off on foot at the West St. Augustine Little League Park on Duval Street, troopers said.

Sembower remains in custody in lieu of $27,000 bail, jail logs show.
