Woman shot during carjacking, person of interest detained, police say

Woman hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, car recovered

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman suffered a gunshot wound during a carjacking just before 7 p.m. Saturday, according to Jacksonville police. She is expected to survive and police have detained a person of interest.

Officers were called out to Kings Road, near the College Gardens neighborhood.

Police said a man shot the woman while trying to steal her car. Medics took her to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police recovered the woman's car a short time later and a person of interest was detained for questioning.
