Clay County deputies search for wanted felon
CCSO: Felony warrant issued for Steven M. Kocis
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – The Clay County Sheriff's Office is asking for help tracking down a wanted felon.
Detectives said Steven M. Kocis is a "violent habitual career offender" who is wanted on a felony warrant for not complying with registration requirements.
Kocis is known to frequent Alachua and Duval counties. The Sheriff's Office believes he may be working in construction.
Kocis' first arrest in 1987 was on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon. He was sentenced to two years in prison.
Since 1988, Kocis has been arrested on charges that include burglary, grand theft, cocaine possession, theft of a motor vehicle and forgery.
Kocis' latest release from prison was in December 2017.
According to a detective working the case, Kocis does have other arrests in Alachua County and he's wanted for other offenses.
