DARIEN, Ga. – A 20-year-old Florida woman has died after an officer-involved shooting in McIntosh County, Georgia, authorities said.

The shooting stems from a traffic stop made by the Georgia State Patrol in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators said Sasha Ann Pishko of Clermont was inside a car that was pulled over along I-95 near Mile Marker 61 when she abruptly drove away and struck Trooper First Class Glen Walters with her car.

As the car drove off, Walters fired multiple rounds into Pishko’s vehicle, which traveled a short distance down the road before it crashed, according to preliminary details released by the GBI.

Pishko was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was performed Wednesday to determine her cause and manner of death.

Walters was treated for minor injuries.
