FHP: Woman, 19, hit by car, critically injured in St. Augustine Beach


ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. – An Interlachen woman is in critical condition after troopers said she was hit by a car while crossing a street in St. Augustine Beach.

Troopers were called to State Road A1A just south of Pope Road around 10:15 p.m. Monday. That's where they said Rainy Georgia Dawn Smith, 19, was struck by an Acura Integra driven by Harry Brownett, 51, of St. Augustine.

She was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with critical injuries. Brownett was not injured. Troopers have said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Charges are pending, according to FHP.
