Missing endangered woman found safe at hospital

Jessica Schmutz, 34, of Palatka, was last seen in St. Augustine


PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – Investigators with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office who had asked for help finding a missing endangered woman said the woman was found safe this week.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Jessica Schmutz, 34, of Palatka, was seen walking away from Flagler Hospital March 8 in St. Augustine.

Schmutz has a history of mental health issues and requires medication, authorities said.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office posted on social media Tuesday that Schmutz arrived a UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville on March 15 with no ID, but her identification was confirmed Tuesday by hospital staff.
