LAKE CITY, Fla. – A Lake City nurse was arrested Friday over accusations that he made unwanted sexual advances toward an underage patient, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

FDLE said it began its investigation May 9 in response to a complaint that Melvin touched the patient inappropriately during a physical exam and then reached out to the child using Snapchat.

In a later conversation, Melvin expressed interest in having sexual contact with the child and sent a suggestive photo, according to FDLE. In reality, he was talking to an undercover agent at that point.

The agency said Melvin also tried unsuccessfully to meet up with the child.

Anyone with information that could be relevant to this case is asked to contact FDLE’s Live Oak office at (800) 226-5630.
