Parked car, Charter Point apartment building also struck by gunfire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A teenager was shot when a masked gunman fired multiple shots early Monday evening at an apartment complex in Charter Point, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said two men were shot at about 5:30 p.m. by a man wearing a mask at Sundance Point Rental Community on Edenfield Road off University Boulevard.

An 18-year-old was shot in the arm and was taken to a hospital, police said. A man who identified himself as the victim's brother said the victim was in surgery and is expected to be OK. The man said his brother has no idea who shot him.

According to investigators, multiple shots were fired, hitting a parked car and the side of the apartment building.

Witnesses told News4Jax they heard roughly 15 gunshots coming from the apartments.

“I hope he don’t come to my house," said Wilfredo Robles, who lives in the neighborhood and said the crime is unnerving. "There’s a lot of kids in this neighborhood."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
