Family: 18-year-old Raines student wounded in shooting on West 9th Street

Family says female student plays basketball at Raines High School

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An 18-year-old woman who plays basketball at Raines High School was wounded in a shooting Monday afternoon on West 9th Street, family members confirmed to News4Jax.

Family members did not identify her by name.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, officers were called to a neighborhood at about 2:34 p.m. They were seen in between Detroit and St. Clair streets.

According to Sgt. Myers, the woman sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. It appeared the woman was shot in the street.

Investigators are looking for a red vehicle that may have been involved. There was no description of the shooter.
