ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A driver who stopped on train tracks in St. Johns County on Tuesday morning escaped with only minor injuries when a train plowed into her car, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
The car, which was possibly disabled, was hit by the train just before 9 a.m. on Kings Estates Road, according to law enforcement.
The driver, a St. Augustine resident, came to a stop on the railroad tracks as the crossing arms were lowered, according to an FHP report. She was able to get out before the collision.
No roads were blocked due to the collision, the Sheriff's Office said.
The driver was charged with failing to obey a signal at a railroad crossing, according to FHP.
