JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Forest Service confirms they are fighting an eight-acre fire tonight in the Black Hammock Island area of Jacksonville. The fire broke out off Saw Pit Road Monday night.

Winds are making it tough on Rangers working to contain the fire. The Florida Forest Service has two tractors out in the area working on containing the fire.

Right now crews have put down fire lines around the majority of the fire, there is one section of land that is too swampy and dangerous for crews to get to tonight.

The Florida Forest Service said there are three or four homes near the fire, but the residents inside the homes are not being evacuated at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Florida Forest Service will be able to further investigate the cause Tuesday during day-light hours.
