Accused robber charged after brother dies during crime

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man who police said was involved in a November 2016 home invasion robbery that left his brother shot and killed has been charged with second degree felony murder.

Lucky Cox, 28, was arrested on unrelated charges on Nov. 11, 2016, the night his brother, Sergio Cox was killed during the course of committing a home invasion robbery at the Princeton Square Apartments in Baymeadows, police said. While police were en route to the home invasion, a vehicle was reported leaving the apartment complex.

Homicide investigators determined that Sergio Cox was shot and killed during the home invasion robbery. 

On Monday, police located and arrested Lucky Cox in Jacksonville. Because police believe that Lucky Cox participated in the home invasion and that his brother was killed in the process of committing the crime, he was charged with second-degree felony murder, burglary with assault or battery and attempted home invasion robbery.
