Increasing clouds tonight, not as chilly

Coastal winds, clouds, and an isolated shower

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a chilly start today in the 30s and 40s, we warmed impressively under mostly sunny skies. Afternoon temperatures climbed into the upper 60s and even low 70s.

This evening expect increasing clouds and temperatures falling into the upper 40s and low 50s by dawn. Coastal winds that build up during the day do fade a bit overnight, out of the East/Northeast between 7-12mph. Coastal clouds push onshore and an isolated coastal shower cannot be ruled out, but any showers that develop would be short lived.

Tuesday marks the beginning of a wetter weather pattern as tropical moisture moves in for increasing rainfall totals through Thanksgiving. Expect 50% chances for showers. By mid day, waves of showers will be pushing northeast across the state, with cloudy skies in between. The heaviest and most frequent rain will be in our Southern counties, 1-2" of rain is possible. A few thunderstorms may develop as well. Winds will be out of the southeast between 5-10 mph and afternoon highs will hit the upper 60s and low 70s.

The rain tapers off overnight on Tuesday and despite the mostly cloudy skies, Wednesday will be dry, relatively, with 30% chances for showers. Afternoon highs will hit 70° and rain chances increase late Wednesday into Thursday.

Thanksgiving will be wet for most, with a trough crossing the state from the Gulf, bringing waves of rain with it. We could see another 1-2" of rain with isolated areas seeing 3-4" of rain. Our Southernmost counties will be the wettest, with our driest counties to the North of the State line. You can read more about the forecast for Thanksgiving here...
