Another hot & steamy afternoon cools nicely tonight

Weekend cools down due to Nor'Easter

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – We topped out in the upper 80s with a few low 90s under partly cloudy skies today. The unusually warm temperatures continue into Thursday, but a weekend Nor' Easter will cool us down in the afternoons.

Tonight we will cool down after sunset into the mid to upper 60s to low 70s under mostly clear skies. We may see some patchy dense fogThursday morning- but rapid morning warming will take care of any fog. The fog will lower visibilities down to less than a mile in some cases, and will clear for most counties between 8-9:00a.m. The exceptions will be inland, southern locations like Gainesville and Palatka could see more persistent reduced visibilities, through 10:00a.m.

Thursday the warmer-than-normal afternoon highs continue as we hit the upper 80s and low 90s. We have an isolated (20%) chance for a shower to pop up, mainly in Southeastern Georgia. Winds will be light, out of the southeast, turning northeasterly late, between 5-10mph.

Friday kicks off a change in the hot & dry weather pattern. Winds pick up out of the northeast between 10-15mph. We still have dry air over us, but it will begin to erode with the moist onshore flow. Any coastal showers that wander onshore will be very light, and the best chance to see a shower will be in St Johns & Flagler counties.  The gusty northeasterly winds hold our afternoon highs in the mid 80s, the beginning of a slightly cooler weekend.

The weekend's weather is defined by gusty northeasterly winds. Saturday will see increasing clouds, a chance for coastal showers (30%) to wander onshore, and afternoon highs merely in the mid to low 80s. Sunday the winds fade in intensity a bit (northeast around 10mph,) but the chances for rain are between 40-50%.
