Appeal request denied for new Atlantic Beach gas station

Despite protests, city approved new Gate station last year

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – More than a year after the Atlantic Beach City Commission unanimously approved a new Gate gas station, a request by residents for a public hearing to appeal that decision was denied by the city's attorney.

The gas station, which will be built on property next to Beach Diner on Atlantic Boulevard, will have seven pumps and a 6,400-square-foot convenience store that will be open 24/7.

Opponents said their concerns about noise, traffic and decreasing property values have been ignored by city officials.

There's no word on when the station is expected to open.
