Do you have road rage? Ask yourself these 4 questions

Clay County Sheriff's Office offers aggressive driving self-test

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Look within yourself, and be honest about what you see.

Do you consider yourself a driver who is susceptible to road rage?

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says anger while behind the wheel is becoming an increasingly prevalent problem on the county's roads.

Deputies are offering this self-test that you can take for everyone's safety. Ask yourself these four questions:

  • Do you regularly drive over the speed limit to try to beat red lights because you are in a hurry?
  • Do you tailgate or flash your headlights at the driver in front of you that you believe is driving too slowly?
  • Do you honk the horn often?
  • Do you ever use obscene gestures or otherwise communicate angrily at another driver?
  • If you answered yes, then deputies want you to slow it down and try to regain your composure behind the wheel. They also suggest you set aside in preparation of driving so your not always in a rush.

Deputies say they are taking aggressive driving seriously, and they will prosecute if anyone is found guilty of road rage.

Florida statutes define aggressive driving as someone who is committing two or more of the following acts simultaneously or in succession: Exceeding the posted speed limit, unsafely or improperly changing lanes, following another vehicle too closely, ailing to yield the right-of-way, improperly passing, and violating traffic control and signal devices.
