Draper named to lead state parks

Audubon Florida Executive Director Eric Draper, who has long been one of the most-prominent environmental lobbyists in the state, will become director of the state parks system, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection announced Thursday.

Draper will take over the new role Nov. 28.

“Eric Draper has dedicated his career to the protection of Florida's environment, and his passion for our state's natural resources make him an ideal fit to join our world-caliber parks team,” Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Noah Valenstein said in a prepared statement.

Also Thursday, the department announced that David Clark, who has been acting deputy secretary of land and recreation, has been appointed deputy secretary.

Also, Callie DeHaven will serve as interim director of the Division of State Lands.
